This installation draws inspiration from the specific orientation of certain ancient religious buildings, which were designed in relation to the sun’s path and the feast day of the saint to whom they are dedicated.

At the pre-Cluniac abbey of Gigny, I tracked the rays of light passing through the church’s stained-glass windows at various times throughout June 29th—the feast day of Saint Peter. These rays are manifested here as a collection of beeswax forms, appearing like fragments of light transformed into matter.

Arranged on a wooden table built to the scale of the structure, these forms create a shifting representation of light within architecture—a space where time, space, and matter converge.
